LNER J52 - The Unsung Hero
These little engines, originally built by the GNR & designated as the J13, were the unsung heroes of the system. Without them the railway would have ground to a halt. They piloted the expresses out of Kings Cross, brought coaching stock to or from the sidings for the main line services, and hauled freight trains across London, and other cities covered by the LNER.
BR Mk1 Coaches
These were the last coaches to be designed for use with steam locomotives in Britain. Construction started in 1949 and lasted up to the early ‘60s. Later versions were dual heated (by steam or electricity) for use with steam or diesel locos. Many are still running today on preserved lines.
